In the Sixties, Easter was less commercialized. We each had a sturdy basket that was saved from year to year. We dyed real eggs a few days before Easter. These colored hard boiled eggs were hidden in Momma’s flower beds all around our yard. There were also colored marshmallow eggs in clear cellophane. That were hidden among the flowers (I never liked those marshmallow eggs)

We got dressed in our Easter dresses and before going to church, we went on an Easter Egg hunt in back yard. We didn’t find large quantities of candy, just several boiled eggs of bright color and a few candy eggs. We were delighted with egg hunt. Our Easter tradition was more focused on the new Easter dresses and going to church for the Easter worship service than about tons of candy –thank goodness or we would probably gotten more cavities than we did.
